Research Interests

Colten graduated from Skidmore College in 2013 with a BA in Psychology. As an undergraduate research assistant he worked in the Cognition, Affect, and Temperament (CAT) laboratory on projects related to the development of dynamic social stimuli for use in social information processing research, as well as mental health literacy among the general public. He was able to present a poster on some of this work, titled “Understanding perceptions of avoidance as a coping response: Mental health literacy for anxiety disorders” at the annual Eastern Psychological Association Conference in New York City.

Colten intends to pursue a doctorate in clinical psychology, with the goal of pursuing research into depression and suicidality. Colten joined the Psychosocial Research Department in August 2013.
